Things to consider when buying a tank |
|
Find a wide range of water treatments, food, ornaments and aquariums at FishFurFeather for really good competitive prices.
Choosing your fish tank can be exciting and fun for you and all the family but there are some factors you may wish to consider first.
Tanks can vary in size from a 5 gallon tank which is fairly small, to 20-30 gallons which is a medium size for beginners to start with. If you don’t have a lot of space and wish to buy a small tank, please don’t buy a fish bowl or any other unfiltered home for your fish. This will not only mean a lot more water changes for you, but your fish won’t grow much and it will live a short life. Some fish can happily live in a 5 gallon tropical tank while others need at least 20 gallons. If you already know which fish you want to keep, please make sure you know how much water they need first.
Aquariums can be very heavy when filled with water so make sure you buy an adequate stand for your tank. You can buy all sorts of shapes from round BiOrbs, hexagons and the standard rectangular shape. All of which look beautiful in the right settings.

Just a side note:
When buying a tank, the bigger the better.
Disease and other nasties are far more concentrated in smaller volumes of water, making a bigger tank easyier to maintain (In ways).
It also allows a MUCH wider varity of fish to be kept.

Hi
I am looking at buying a 120 Prado and would like some advice on common faults/problems or signs on neglect.
Where should I be looking when inspecting a Prado for signs of wear, common rust spots etc.
What are some of the more common problems?
Thanks
